Welcome to the Division of Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi! Academics at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi have never been more exciting with major growth and innovative ideas leading the way to a brighter future.
We’re growing and had our largest student body yet in the fall. We currently enroll more than 12,000 students and enrollments in our mechanical engineering program are surpassing projections. Our new nursing building has been completed. It is gorgeous and will help us do an even better job of training students in high demand fields in nursing and the health sciences. The College of Business is now housed in the new Michael and Karen O’Connor building, completed in 2010. And researchers from across the university, especially those at our Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies and our National Spill Control School, are working hard to help address the problems resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. As the university continues to expand, the plan for the Momentum Campus has been submitted and work is underway. In the future, this additional site will offer the university the opportunity to serve upwards of 16,000 students.
To continue and improve on the great undergraduate education we offer students, we have instituted the First Year Islanders program to promote student learning and student success through reflective teaching practice. First Year Islander faculty members are committed to continually researching and adopting best practices to make instruction as effective as possible. They are working closely with the Division of Student Engagement and Success and academic support staff across the campus to make sure that we are giving every student what he or she needs to learn and succeed at the university. If you’re a new (or even a returning) student, be sure to visit the newly established Islander Welcome Center, as well as CASA, our Center for Academic and Student Achievement, to see what we can do to help you succeed.
