University Technology Council

Purpose or Function: The purpose of the University Technology Council is to facilitate overall information technology planning, strategies and policies and to monitor the strategic performance of the University’s technology endeavors to remain competitive in the political, economic and competitive business environment.

The University Technology Council shall create and collaborate with other University committees in order to effectively accomplish its goals.  The following committees will initially augment the University Technology Council: Academic Administration Technology Committee, Business Administration Technology Committee, Research Computing Committee, Electronic & Information Resources Committee, and Data Stewards Committee. Significant collaborating committees will include the Instructional Technologies & Distance Education Committee and the University Web Council.

Membership: The Council’s membership will generally consist of representatives at the Associate Vice President, Associate Dean or higher level from the following areas:  Academic Affairs, Finance & Administration, Institutional Advancement, Student Engagement and Success, Research and Innovation, Library, Enrollment Management, and one representative for all 6 colleges appointed by the Provost.

Academic Computing Committee

Data Stewards Committee

Purpose/Function: University Data Stewards promote the availability, usability, integrity   and security of enterprise data across the diverse units of the University. Data Stewards will guide appropriate data use through planning, policy, and protocols at TAMU-CC. The University Data Stewards will collaborate with other departments to ensure the data security, privacy, and compliance ensure through the appropriate classification of enterprise data and by reviewing training provided to users who will interact with data. Finally, the data stewards, facilitate reporting by interpreting data and providing guidance for definitions and reporting purposes

Instructional Technology & Distance Education Committee

Purpose/Function: The Instructional Technology and Distance Education Committee (ITDEC) evaluates options, reviews and recommends rules and procedures, and provides advice regarding Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s distance education efforts.  The ITDEC’s role is to ensure that the Office of Distance Education promotes the educational mission of the University.  In carrying out these functions, the ITDEC serves as a resource regarding the standards, development, creation, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of blended as well as fully online courses and degree programs to ensure high quality offerings.  It also analyzes, supports, and provides planning advice and recommendations regarding distance learning.
